Leah Kleschna () Opened Writer ; The Whirl of New York () Opened Book ; The Night Boat () Opened Feb 2, Additional Lyrics ; Miss () Opened. She made her first striking success, however, on the London stage in Mrs Dane’s Defence with Sir Charles Wyndham in , and a few years later her acting in Leah Kleschna confirmed her position as one of the leading actresses in London. In she started under her own management at the Kingsway theatre.
For the next six years, she appeared there, and occasionally elsewhere, in a string of modern plays that included The Unwel-come Mrs. Hatch (), Mary of Magdala (), Hedda Gabler (), Leah Kleschna (), The New York Idea (), Rosmersholm (), and Salvation Nell (), the first play to make it to Broadway from George P. Baker. Redgrave, with his tall and graceful figure, was also excellent as Mercutio but the greater part of his career was in melodrama. He was especially effective in as old Kleschna to Miss Brune's "Leah Kleschna" at which period he may be said to have reached the height of his career.
